Preperation..........

So just 2 weeks to go, and still a few things to tick off, but otherwise it seems on track.

Mods to the HiLux and Omeo are almost all done. The last few weeks has seen a range of things added or modded on both!. The Hilux was treated to new suspension with the accompanying lift (added bonus), whilst a 145l Long Range Tank goes in this week. keeping the fuel system clean has proven to be an issue, and a FuelManager100 auxiliary fuel filter/Separator has also been installed. At the cost of less than 1 injector, I can't see why you WOULDN"T have one! Especially after the issues we have last trip. Also fitted were Larger Auxiliary Mud Flaps to keep the flying stones down.

The Omeo now has New tyres (Cooper STMaxx in the same size and wheels as the HiLux) and a new Electrical system, comprising of Redarc BMS to handle 240v/12v/Solar charging duties of the 200aH total House batteries. That should keep us going for a while.

Lights were added to the lid of the under bed storage area and are switched to only come on when the door opens. Much easier to have 2 hands to find your clothes, rather than one holding a torch while you rummage around looking for that jumper or your PJ's! A few new outlets were added including a 12v Anderson plug under the battery box for external power use (to go along with the one at the rear) and a cig/USB combo uit in the kitchen area. Jockey Wheel also modified to ensure no repeats of the bent jockey wheel incident in the High Country earlier this year. Thanks to those on My Swag for the how-to!

Have read a few MySwag posts suggesting its been pouring in Cape Leveque and along the Gibb River Road (GRR), and that Cape Leveque is currently CLOSED! Well at least it will have time to dry out in the next month or 6 weeks before we get there. Same happened to us last year with our Outback SA Trip where is bucketed down and tracks only started to reopen the day we left Melbourne. i hope this isn't the new trend, although it is better than the old trend which was that everywhere we went burnt to a crisp 2-3 weeks after we were there......... (read Craig's Hut, Aberfeldy and Marysville :( )

anyway......back to work........

Countdown

Countdown !!!

Just over 3 weeks to go till we hit the road. Excited and nervous at the same time. Shaun has been playing with the trailer, finishing all the electrical stuff. I have been cooking up a storm of some of our favourite meals that we won't be able to cook whilst travelling. These have been vacuum packed and frozen as spare meals for the longer days on the road. Everything seems to be coming together so far, so we will see if we are running around in a mad rush the morning we leave!

The rig and trailer!
